Summer Bible Camp, Ukraine

Helping young people and adults get a clearer understanding of the Christian message and life is very difficult when they are surrounded by an anti-Christian environment. Christian summer camps are an important opportunity for these young people and adults to get away from their regular routines and be part of an environment with Christian teaching, fellowship and fun for a period of time.

Lutheran Church Canada missionary to Ukraine, Alexei Novrotsky, and Pastor Roland Syens from Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Kitchener, Ontario serve as bible class teachers at this camp. Anita Syens, a Stephen Ministry trainer and hospital spiritual care provider, among her many other support services at the camp, provides her own special ministry to the campers –free hair cuts! She also happens to be a professional hair stylist. About one hundred and fifty have registered to attend this year’s camp held this August.

A grant of $4,000 will enable poor children and orphans identified by our missionary as well as the families of Lutheran pastors from Ukraine to be refreshed by study and rest by a time away from the demands of ministry.
