Deaconesses Celebrate Christmas in Cambodia – December 2, 2008
Deaconesses from Kampot province met at the end of November for mutual encouragement and study at a conference hosted by the congregation where deaconess Neak Mau serves. (Neak Mau is one of the deaconesses sponsored through the Outreach to Women and Children Project - the only one at this conference.) The picture shows the women examining copies of a Cambodian translation of Luther’s Small Catechism.

Deaconesses provide a variety of educational and social ministries to women and children in the various towns and villages of Kampot where they serve.
The deaconesses extend their gratitude for the copies of Luther’s Small Catechism to LISA (Lutheran Institute Southeast Asia) and its Executive Director, Dr. Leonard Harms.

(The work of LISA is made possible by the support and involvement of volunteers from conservative Lutheran churches in North America, Europe and Asia. Lutheran Church Canada, carries out its theological education efforts in Southeast Asia through this agency.)

Dear Dr. Harms
Greeting from LISA Office, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
“...I have taken some pictures on Christmas celebration and deaconess fellowship. It was great and wonderful time for members coming to celebrate Christmas season.
There were many people and children attending the Christmas. I hope once you have seen these pictures, It meant more than what I can share with you.
On behalf of deaconess fellowship, Nak Mao would like to send words of thanks to you and for your help to make this happened in the Lord's ministry.
Blessing to you
Vanarith Chhim

We are grateful to Dr. Leonard Harms for sharing this report from Vanarith Chhim who also serves as interpreter to visiting pastors and professors who volunteer their services in teaching currently serving and future church workers in Cambodia.
