Khok Kloi Property Purchase Update – December 2008
Takuapa Sahatay Lutheran Church was able to purchase land on which they have built a beautiful church building. There is, however, a small piece of property between the church property and the newly constructed divided highway which blocks visibility and direct access from the highway. It is desirable that this piece of property be purchased so that an access road leading directly from the highway to the property could be constructed. Project 0816 was adopted to provide funds to purchase this additional land.
The second photo below, taken by Dr. Ralph Mayan, Interim Mission Director, on his recent visit to Thailand shows the church and the basket ball court that members of the U.S. based Lutheran Laymen's League put in several Years ago along with the newly purchased property below.
The acquired land will make it possible to have a road built from the highway to just past the church building. Plans are in the works to develop a cemetery behind the church. Having a cemetery at the church was an important decision that the church made after deciding that they would not confuse the people by following the practice of the Buddhists in cremating...
The two individuals in the picture standing next to Dr. Leonard Harms, (right to left) are Pastor Shucat Srikakahn and Missionary Suchart Chujit. This picture is taken looking away from the church and towards the road. The boundary of the property purchased is from the tree across to the corner of the concrete slab (basket ball court above) and extends down through the bush to the road. If you look closely at the picture you can see in the distance (about the center of the picture) a power pole. That's where the highway is.
