
2007 Mission Projects
All projects adopted for 2007 have been paid, except as indicated below.
0701: Seminary and Mission Centre, Odessa, Ukraine. Work on this project is still underway. It is anticipated that the funds allocated for this project will complete it. Dedication of the building is scheduled for the last Sunday in August 2008. $12,000.
0702: VBS Nicaragua. The time for Vacation Bible Schools in Nicaragua is January of the year so the funds for this project adopted in 2007 paid for schools conducted in January 2008. $3,000.
0703: Heating System, Krasnoperekopsk, Ukraine. This work has been completed and people have been able to worship in comfort this winter. The congregation has sent its thanks. $8,500.
0704: Friends' Club, centre and camp. This program has been funded for several years. It involves a man in Dnepro working with young people who are largely neglected. These young people now form the nucleus of missionary Alexey Novrotsky's young congregation. $5,000.
0705: Withdrawn by LCC Mission Director.
0706: Children's Christian Education, Nicaragua. This program has proven to be an effective evangelism tool for pastors and congregations in Nicaragua. $5,400.
0707: Deaconess Support, Nicaragua. This project provides funds for transportation and programs carried out by deaconesses in Nicaragua. $4,800.
0708: Pastoral Education, Cambodia. LCC cooperates with interested Lutherans in the Missouri Synod to provide faculty for a theological program for training pastors and deaconesses in Thailand and Cambodia under Luther Institute, Southeast Asia. The projects covers the travel and accommodations of professors from Canada for the program. $10,000.
0709: Mission Startup, Kao Lak, Thailand. This project was not undertaken in 2007 but is scheduled to begin in 2008. CLMS has designated sufficient funds to support this project then the work begins. $5,000.
0710: Mission Station, Costa Rica. A facility has been rented in one of the four communities where the missionary is working. About 30 people gather regularly for worship. $4,000.
0711: Dormitory for Mission Centre, Nicaragua. With the completion of the Mission Centre in Nicaragua, the overall plan calls for several dormitories to be built to accommodate the functions which the mission centre is to serve. $12,000.
0712: Mission Station, Granada, Nicaragua. With the rising cost of land, the LCC mission board determined that it was more prudent to apply the funds to buy land rather than rent. $6,000.
0713: Church building rental, Thailand. Funds approved cover the cost of renting two facilities where congregations gather for worship. $2,500.
0714: Mission Vehicle, Mozambique. This project assisted in the purchase of a vehicle to be used part-time by the missionary in Mozambique. The vehicle will also be used by a health care worker in the area. $5,000.
0715: Van for Mission Outreach, Ukraine. This is a joint project with the LWML to provide transportation for outreach by missionaries in the Crimea. $5,000.
0716: Crew Ministries Bus Pass, Canada. Due to a lower number of participants in the Crew Ministry summer program, only $3,180 of the $6,400 was required. $3,180.
0717: DVDs for Lutheran Open House, Canada. Funds to provide resources for this evangelistic effort across Canada were provided. $3,500.
