Music Education Program, Costa Rica

This is a new project to provide music instruction for the youth in Costa Rica through weekly visits by the music instructor. Similar to the Nicaraguan program, the goal is to enrich the edification of the church communities through enhanced music worship.

I want to support music training for children and youth.

Music Education Program for Children and Youth, Nicaragua

Children and youth receive musical training by a full-time staff musician as they learn to play instruments, allowing them to actively participate in their congregation’s worship services. Keyboards, guitars, speakers, microphones, band equipment, music sheets are needed. The project also provides funding for transportation and meals when training is taking place.

Community Children’s Feeding Programs, Nicaragua

$1.50 can provide a substantial and healthy meal for a child in any community in Nicaragua. There are groups of anywhere from 40 to 80 children in each of the Central American feeding programs where the children hear Bible studies and learn the Small Catechism. A deaconess and pastor lead the programs while the children are fed once or twice a week. The funding goal for the project has increased this year to allow even more children to access the program.

I want to support feeding for the children of Nicaragua.

Children’s Education Program, Nicaragua

This valuable ministry, provided at the churches by the deaconesses and pastors, offers tutoring in mathematics, Spanish, science, and, most importantly, lessons from the Word of God. Funding is needed to ensure that the 60 children attending the program in 2020 will have the backpacks, notebooks, and educational resources needed for each child’s scholarship.

Central America Regional Church Workers Training

This project will provide continuing education seminars for pastors and deacons/esses serving in Central America. Project funding provides for transportation, room/board and materials for two theological seminars, held at the Mission Centre in Chinandega, Nicaragua, and led by LCC and LCMS pastors and theological professors.

I want to support the pastors and deacons/esses serving in Central America.

Transportation/Upkeep for Pastors’ Motorcycles, Nicaragua

Thanks to the response of our donors over the last few years, the pastors in Nicaragua have all been provided with motorcycles as needed.  These are used to travel from their homes to their church communities and to the Mission Centre in Chinandega for meetings, A number of the older motorcycles are in need of repair and all need regular maintenance.  Many of the pastors have rural parishes, driving many miles daily over dusty, rutted roads.

I want to support transportation for pastors in Nicaragua.

Computer Training for Deaconesses and Children, Nicaragua

This program and its materials and resources, including nearly 200 laptop computers, are largely funded and led by a Canadian volunteer, significantly reducing the overall costs. Your support is needed to help the deaconesses and students reach the Chinandega mission centre and its computer lab, and also to allow volunteers to travel to church communities to provide on-site computer training.

Thanks to our donors, this project is being funded in 2021 with donations from 2020 that went unused due to COVID-19 impacts. Additional donations are not required at this time.

Youth Education in Costa Rica

Pastor Edmundo Retana and his wife Deaconess Betty reach out to 20-25 children/youth in two communities in Cartago, Costa Rica, gathering together for Christian instruction and worship. Several youth retreats are held each year; these have become great opportunities for nurturing the youth of Cartago in God’s Word.
