There are currently 34 deaconesses and three assistants (maestras) consecrated for diaconal and educational work in congregations. They conduct the Children’s Education Program in their congregations under the supervision of their local pastors and with coordination from Lutheran Church–Canada. This project is to provide a complimentary stipend of approximately $20 a month to assist with transportation and expenses.
Deaconess Support
Missionary Transportation
The majority of pastors in Nicaragua travel by motorcycle to their church, on visits in the community, and back and forth to the mission centre in Chinandega. Five motorcycles are needed for church workers in Central America at a cost of $1600 USD.
I want to support the transportation needs of church workers.
Computer Training for Deaconesses and Children
This program and its hardware is largely funded and led by a Canadian volunteer which significantly reduces the overall costs. Your support is needed to help the deaconesses and students reach the mission centre where they can benefit from the leadership and training being provided.
I want to support computer training.
Youth Ministry
Since 2015 youth from Nicaragua, Honduras and Costa Rica have met annually at the Mission Centre in Chinandega for a National Youth Gathering. More recently there have also been spin-off regional youth gatherings held in Matagalpa, Jinotega, and Costa Rica.
If you are compelled to help the youth continue to meet, and grow in their faith, please support this worthy project.
Music Program for Children and Youth
Children and youth are being trained in music and learning to play the keyboard, allowing them to actively participate in their congregation’s worship services. Keyboards, guitars, speakers, microphones, band equipment, music sheets are needed. The project also provides funding for transportation and meals when training is taking place.
Support for LCC Missionary Navrotskyy in Nikolaev
A graduate of Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton, missionary Rev. Oleksiy Navrotskyy is busy with two urban Lutheran congregations and two country mission stations. He is also busy with various humanitarian projects and missions and teaches at the Odessa Seminary. Help him continue this mission and ministry work.
I want to support the Pastor Navrotskyy in Ukraine.
Mission and Ministry in Costa Rica
Due to the high cost of properties there is no venue for worship in Costa Rica. Pastor Edmundo and Deaconess Betty have built an addition on the house to hold services with youth and children. The family has a bookstore in their home, run by their son Diego who also supports services and meetings with his musical ability.
Children’s Education Program in Costa Rica
There are between 20- 25 children attending each of the programs in the two Cartago communities. They have also extended the outreach to include the youth of Cartago. There are monthly worship services led by Missionary Edmundo Retana and his Deaconess wife Betty.
I want to support the children in Costa Rica.

Parsonage Rental in Jinotepe
Housing support is needed for Pastor Rufino as he continues his mission outreach in Jinotepe and La Pita for 2018.
Place for worship in La Pita
A Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) congregation helped the people of La Pita to gather by purchasing property which LCC missions was able to stabilize with fencing, a kitchen, tarp and latrine. Pastor Rufino has worked hard with the community to submit a budget for the maintenance and expansion on the property needed until a time when a church can be built.
I want to support the congregation in La Pita.
