Central America Regional Church Workers Training

This new project will help lay people who are actively involved in their churches to receive leadership training to support their congregations. The average cost for a year’s worth of theological education and materials is $4000 CAD per student.

I want to support church worker training.

Children’s Feeding Programs

$1.50 can provide a substantial and healthy meal for a child in any community in Nicaragua. There are groups of anywhere from 40 to 80 children in each of the Central American feeding programs where the children hear Bible studies and learn the Small Catechism. A deaconess and pastor lead the programs while the children are fed once or twice a week.

I want to support the children in the feeding program.

Children’s Education Program

Funding is needed to ensure that the 60 children attending the program in 2018 will have the backpacks, notebooks, and educational resources that are included in the $120 USD cost to cover each child’s scholarship.

I want to support the education of children in Nicaragua.

School Desks and Chairs

100 desks and chairs are needed to literally support the children attending feeding and educational programs throughout Nicaragua. Even a small contribution can make a big difference as $15 buys a chair and $35 a desk.

I want to support the children with new desks and chairs.

Deaconess Support

There are currently 34 deaconesses and three assistants (maestras) consecrated for diaconal and educational work in congregations. They conduct the Children’s Education Program in their congregations under the supervision of their local pastors and with coordination from Lutheran Church–Canada. This project is to provide a complimentary stipend of approximately $20 a month to assist with transportation and expenses.

I want to support the deaconesses.

Missionary Transportation

The majority of pastors in Nicaragua travel by motorcycle to their church, on visits in the community, and back and forth to the mission centre in Chinandega. Five motorcycles are needed for church workers in Central America at a cost of $1600 USD.

I want to support the transportation needs of church workers.

Computer Training for Deaconesses and Children

This program and its hardware is largely funded and led by a Canadian volunteer which significantly reduces the overall costs. Your support is needed to help the deaconesses and students reach the mission centre where they can benefit from the leadership and training being provided.

I want to support computer training.

Youth Ministry

Since 2015 youth from Nicaragua, Honduras and Costa Rica have met annually at the Mission Centre in Chinandega for a National Youth Gathering. More recently there have also been spin-off regional youth gatherings held in Matagalpa, Jinotega, and Costa Rica.

If you are compelled to help the youth continue to meet, and grow in their faith, please support this worthy project.

I want to support the youth.
