Vacation Bible School

Deaconesses and volunteers engage children in learning about Jesus.

Many children joyfully participate in the learning of Bible stories, in worship, prayers and songs. The love of Jesus is proclaimed in the communities where the children live. Family members also have the opportunity to participate in openings and closings. These funds go to purchase teaching materials, and other supplies such as snacks, etc for children related to 23 congregations and the mission stations.

Summer camp in Ukraine

Children learn to thank God for their food at a summer camp.

A summer camp near the Black Sea brings over 100 young people together to enjoy fellowship, mentorship, instruction in God’s Word through music, Bible studies and sermons. Over 200 children attend vacation Bible school from Lutheran congregations and non-Christian families. Funding will assist leaders in organizing the yearly programs, covering expenses such as transportation, food, lodging, Christian material, educational and recreational resources.

Prisoners and Lutheran friends in Ukraine

Orphanages for deaf and sick children, a geriatric centre, a jail for adults, and a school for children with a criminal record are located in southern Ukraine. Members of our sister churches visit these individuals regularly and bring them warm clothes, medical supplies and most importantly, the hope and reconciliation through the saving suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Sick children in orphanages benefit from the care and concern of CLMS supporters

There is a special sanatorium for children afflicted with tuberculosis. Here children receive treatment for a period from 1 ½ to 18 months. On a weekly basis Pastor Rudolf Krause, with a group of parishioners, carry out a ministry with these sick children and their parents. They lead Bible classes for the children, talk to the parents about the Christian faith and also provide needed medication, diapers, sheets, books and other necessary items.

Pastor Suchat Chujit

Pastor Suchat Chujit is active in reaching out with the love of Christ to the communities of Kapong, Kokloi and others in Phang Nga province. The mission is challenging but the missionaries use every opportunity for the Gospel proclamation especially during Advent, Christmas, Easter and through their Sunday school ministry and baptisms. This project funds Pastor Chujit’s stipends and mission materials.

Six pastors-in-training in Odessa need support for living expenses to stay at the seminary, cook’s salary, text books and travel. These funds also provide for their families since they have no income during their time of seminary studies.

Pastors with Alternate Training

Pastors with Alternate Training students and their mentors attended a week-long course in Winnipeg.

Eight new Canadians from India, Africa, Central America and Madagascar with backgrounds in various professions are studying to be pastors to reach out to their own communities and cultures. They are studying in places like Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Surrey, B.C. Local Lutheran pastors are appointed as mentors and instructors to tutor and train these candidates in Lutheran theology. The funds will assist in covering the expenses related to teaching, books and teaching resources.

Children's educaiton program

Children in Nicaragua receive a school uniform, backpack and basic school supplies from CLMS.

Children’s Education in Nicaragua is a blessed way to introduce and nurture the children in God’s Word and reach families and communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This project allows for the purchase of uniforms—shoes, shirt or blouse, socks, skirt or trousers, backpacks and school materials for 60 children at $125 per child per year. In addition to tuition, the money pays for tutoring by a Lutheran Christian deaconess or teacher.

Pastor Douglas Aguilar began his ministry by carrying out visitations through the community. About 25 people responded to the Gospel and began gathering for Bible study and worship. Work has expanded to three other areas in Olanchito and plans are on the way to start a Children’s Christian Education program and a humanitarian children’s feeding program in 2012. These funds provide annual salary, housing, utilities, transportation and mission supplies.

His wife, Deaconess Betty Solórzano, is responsible for children’s education including devotions, Bible study and choir. These funds cover the deaconess’ stipends, children’s Christian books, teaching supplies, snacks and transportation.
